A concept device called the Playboard could assist sports coaches by replacing the conventional clipboard. Reported on Dvice.com, the Playboard is powered by the same e-ink technology that powers the Kindle family of devices. Rather than provide an e-reading purpose, however, the Playboard can be used to show the layout of the field, court or rink for your sport of choice. It can then be drawn on to show the players intended positions. See the hockey example below.
It actually reminds me of a dry-erase product I’ve seen at the Container Store called the Desktop Writeboard. It is a dry erase plastic clipboard-style product that has a space for interchangeable patterns that you slide in the middle of the two plastic sides.
