The story of Amazon removing Orwell books from Kindles has been big news over the past month. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos issued an apology, but that didn’t stop some customers from suing.
CNet.com reports that Amazon is now offering affected customers the return of the books or a $30 gift certificate or check. I would imagine the users that took notes in the books – and therefore lost those notes when the books were removed – will choose the return of the books, while others will enjoy that $30 gift certificate. According to Cnet, you can email kindle-response@amazon.com with your choice if you were affected.
Considering the books were removed almost two months ago, this may appear to be too little, too late for some Kindle customers. Others, I’m sure, will happily take their $30 and buy some more Kindle books.
